History

In 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt sought Saint-Gaudens’ expertise to revamp American currency designs, aiming to reflect the nation’s growth. Two of Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty designs were chosen for the US Eagle gold coins, including the $20 Gold Double Eagle and later, the American Gold Eagle bullion coin.
