The US Mints $10 Liberty Head Eagle Coin is an iconic piece of American history, known for its long run in the Eagle coin series. These 1900 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins are offered in Mint State 63 condition and come sealed in protective plastic slabs. MS63 coins generally have some contact marks, with a few larger ones in focal areas, along with possible light hairlines or small patches of scratches. Despite these small imperfections, the coins retain a majority of their original luster.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1900 Liberty Gold Eagle features Lady Liberty in left-profile, designed by Christian Gobrecht. She is wearing a coronet crown, with a circle of 13 stars representing the original colonies surrounding her head. The date is engraved below the portrait.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1900 $10 Liberty Eagle Coins, the heraldic eagle is depicted in front-facing relief with its wings spread wide. The eagle holds a set of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing war and peace. The national motto, “In God We Trust,” is inscribed on a banner above the eagle, signifying this coin as a Type II variety.
History
In 1900, the $10 Liberty Gold Eagle saw lower mintages compared to previous years, with coins only produced at the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints. Philadelphia struck 293,840 coins that year, while San Francisco produced just 81,000 coins.
