Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coin features King Charles III in a left-profile portrait. Designed by Jody Clark, this effigy is the first coin design to depict Charles III without a crown.

Reverse

On the reverse, the HMS Bounty is shown on the open seas, highlighting its dramatic legacy. The design commemorates the ships role in the famous mutiny and the founding of the Pitcairn Island settlement.

History

The HMS Bounty became famous after the mutiny led by Fletcher Christian. Seeking freedom from British rule, the mutineers, along with several Tahitians, established a settlement on Pitcairn Island. The colony faced significant challenges in its early years, but the descendants of these settlers continue to inhabit the island, preserving its unique history.
